The Oceanperf Challenge is a popular long running event in France on the surf beaches of Capbretton and Hossgeor. The premier Life Saving competition is open to all athletes, young, old, the learning and experienced... an individual event not missed attracting lifesavers from all over world ! 


This year the 3rd edition of the UK Challenge will be hosted as standalone event due to the success of the SLSGB age group Nationals at event capacity. 


We are pleased to announce the Oceanperf Challenge will hosted at Portreath, 16th August 2025.


Open Individual Men & Women

All althetes must be minimium  15 years age in 2024 to be eligable. All lifesavers from all ILS afflicitated clubs & organisations welcome all over the world...

Portreath Beach

Hosted on the surf beach of Portreath on the rugged North coast of Cornwall. Venue of many National Life Saving championships for many decades.


Portreath is small harbour village, super rich in history , rugged cliffs and coastline, great surf and home of Portreath SLSC...


If you're lucky, stay on lookout for Charlie Haynes tucking into a barrel on the Harbour wall.

Racing starts 10am with all heats pre marshalled and available on Live Heats 24 hours before the action starts...


Check online for your heat draw. Live Heats wrist bands are mandatory, register 9am for wristbands for athletes NOT on Live Heats...


Clubs caps and race vests must be worn !

Event Live Stream

Videos, Interviews and entertainment will be provided from professional videographer Fynley Caudery. A once Portreath SLSC nipper and GB athlete at the 2017 International Surf Rescue Challenge. Fyn brings a new edge to the sport, experience, style and a knack for viral hits.

Oceanperf UK very own Piran Phillips, a student at Solent and under grad Sports Journalist is the conduit and enabler between providers.



Working together SLSGB  management and Millstone Sound will bring live commentary, post race interviews and Live Heats results posted real time to bring new dimensions to our sport. 





Live Heats is now the default for Aussies and ILS world lifesaving champs. The platform is not only a game changer for event officials but also athletes and importantly publishing real time results, both online and live video streams… Oceanperf Challenge will be using Live Heats for online entries, marshalling and results.
